He is a prolific writer and minister noted for his radio program titled Grace to You. MacArthur's theology can be considered a Dispensationalist and Calvinist, and a strong proponent of expository preaching. He has been acknowledged by Christianity Today as one of the most influential preachers of his time, and has frequently guessed on the Larry King Live TV talk show as a representative of an evangelical Christian perspective. Secret to a long lasting marriage? – SALT
Two weeks ago my cousin got married. Marriage for us is always a family affair. Anyway, the whole “MACEREN” clan went to the wedding. Every time somebody in the clan gets married, the great patriarchs are always entitled to a “no-time-limit” speech. So my grandfather, the great Atty. Silvino Maceren Jr. gave his famous speech, which I heard for more than a dozen times already. He also gave this speech in my wedding. The speech has already sunk so deep into my mind that I am thinking about writing a book about it. According to him, the secret to their more than 50 years of marriage with my Lola Patricia is SALT. He usually begins with this story: There was an old king who one day asked his three daughters one by one if they loved him. The first daughter replied that he loved his father as much as she loves all the gold in the kingdom. The king was so happy to hear how much he was loved by his first daughter. The second daughter said that he loved her father as much she loves all … [Read more...]
Would you have invested with the skinny little geek?
Would you have invested with the skinny little geek? Sometime last week, my Dad asked me to attend a multi-level marketing seminar involving Voice Over Internet Protocol (V.O.I.P) products. He wanted to attend the seminar personally but he asked me to attend the seminar primarily for two reasons first he had another meeting to attend and secondly, he just did not understand what the product is all about. (This also goes for all other “hi-tech” products) So I reluctantly attended the seminar. An American gave the presentation. He was very eloquent and convincing. The product was equally good as well. But what really intrigued me was the sales pitch he made when asked he people to join the multi-level marketing company. He told us that Microsoft is one of the richest and one of the most successful company in the world. The company is currently worth more than $ 200 Billion dollars. If these guys would come knocking at your door, you wouldn’t hesitate to give them your … [Read more...]
How to add a giant RSS button in your header
The thing about deciding to stick it out with a theme is that you get to learn a lot. You are forced to study in order to tweak the theme. One of the things that I’ve always wanted to accomplish is putting a big RSS button in my header. Sure you can have the default RSS button in your side bar but it is a small teeny winy button. I wanted a big RSS button, not only because it looks nice but because they say it will increase your number of readers (subscribers I should say) And I must agree it will increase your feed subscribers. For who wouldn't wont to click that shiny orange button ? Go ahead click on mine ! I discovered a big nice juicy orange RSS button by GEEK WHAT. So I decided to use this button. Now that I have the .GIF file for the button how do I link this to my RSS and how do I place it in my header file? It's quite easy. I’m no good at HTML. In fact I just learned to manipulate HTML codes for the past few weeks because I have no choice. I was forced to study it … [Read more...]
Mactan Island Lawyer’s league acceptance speech
"There are always three speeches, for every one you actually gave. The one you practiced, the one you gave, and the one you wish you gave." ~Dale Carnegie I agree with Dale Carnegie. However everytime I make a speech I only do two because I never practice before giving my speeches. (Except for contest purposes) However after I give my speech I always wish I could have done more. The following is the short acceptance speech I gave to the Macan Island Lawyer's league sometime late 2007 when I just passed the Philippine bar exams. The event was held at the Hilton Hotel. I didn't mind giving the speech because I tasted the good food that the hotel has to offer. Anyway here is the speech: Distinguished guests, colleagues in the most noble profession, friends, relatives and loved ones Good evening. I have been given the Herculean task tonight of delivering this acceptance speech in behalf of my distinguished colleagues. I still have a vague idea as to why I was chosen among … [Read more...]
