There are three forces that are constantly struggling to dictate how a blogger will design his blog or website. Those three are ads, rich user experience and search engine optimization. Those three are always at war with each other and it is up to the blogger to maintain a balance between them. Some blogs have too much ads that visitors to the site get turned off by pesky ads. (Ads such as Pop-ups, pop-overs and pop-unders) But what can I say, a blogger has to earn some dough for what he is doing. There’s a new way to put a non-obtrusive ad in a blog that will not in anyway affect a user’s experience. This is made possible by a Word Press plugin called MaxBlogPress Stripe Ad 1.2. (If you notice there is an ad strip at the top of this blog. This is what I am reffering to) Most leading bloggers refer to MaxBlogPress Stripe Ad as a new non-obtrusive way of displaying an advertising message. Putting ads and their corresponding links is very easy. There is even an option to put … [Read more...]
A new way to celebrate the new year
Last year I preached this new year message in several churches where I was invited to preach. This message has blessed my heart so much. I hope this will bless you too as we celebrate the first Lord ’s Day this year. My three main texts are found in Exodus 12:1-24, 13:1-10, Exodus 23:14-19 and Deuteronomy 16:1-22 Introduction: The month of January is named after the Roman god Janus, who was pictured as a man with two faces, one looking backward and the other forward. New Year’s Day provides a valuable time to ponder the past while anticipating the future. The New year In the Old Testament— The first month of the Hebrew calendar was in the spring, around March/April. In its later history the nation of Israel adopted all 12 months of the Babylonian calendar as their civil calendar. (The month of Nisan Being the first month) With regard to the year, the Jewish historian Josephus stated that Israel had two New Years—the commercial New Year, which began in the fall … [Read more...]

Business & economic forecast for 2008
As the year is about to start, let me indulge you with my own analysis of the business environment that will we will be experiencing particularly for those living in Southeast Asia and most particularly for us in the Philippines. This will also involve some economics as this will affect businesses as well. Let me just begin with the statement that no forecast is a perfect forecast, no matter how good a forecast or a forecaster is, there is no such thing as an absolute forecast. A forecast is only an aid to enable us to make good business decisions. We will start off with the happenings in the world largest economy, the United States of America. As we all know the United States of America is facing a serious economic dilemma due to its sub prime mortgage problems. This problem has translated into slower jobs growth, shortage of business credit, and a decrease in industrial production among other things. The problem is so serious problem that even the White house has lowered its … [Read more...]
How to add a “Home” button to the “BLOGGER PRO” theme, the “PRO” way.
In my November 25, 2007 post, I mentioned how to put a home button in your word press theme. I discovered that my theme "BLOGGER PRO" did not have a "home" button. I have discovered a "work around" the problem. It may not be the perfect solution but it worked. I posted that article so that it might help others who wish to put a home button in the BLOGGER PRO theme or any other theme. I tried to contact the author of the BLOGGER PRO theme about the problem through her blog. But I did not get a response immediately; hence I was forced to do a little research and discovered the work around. The good thing about it is that I was forced to study HTML. After several weeks the author of the theme, Elena Gafita sent me an email and gave me the code on how to put a home button to the BLOGGER PRO theme. This is the instruction and the code that she gave me: Replace this into header. <div class="TopMenu"> <ul> <li><a href="/" mce_href="/">Home</a> … [Read more...]
