I’ve decided to give a free ebook or a freebie at least once a month this month. However there is a catch. You will have to follow the following guidelines: 1.) You have to give 5 “sensible” comments on 3 different posts in this blog. 2.) Aside from the above comments, you have to give a separate comment on this post indicating that you want to receive the free ebook. 3.) Offer expires on January 31, 2008 (Philippine time) 4.) Comments made before the date and time of this post is not included. 5.) The ebook will be sent via email. Please provide a valid email address. The free ebook give away for the month is “Unleash the Creative new you” Originally a $20.00 value, Unleash The Creative New You! is all you'll ever need to start bringing out that creative person and that imaginative soul that's inside of you. According to the author “After reading this ebook, you will be able to understand what creativity really is, how it can help you live a more fulfilling life, and what … [Read more...]
The 7 characteristics of highly effective managers
Yesterday we had our first semi-annual branch command conference. Our company holds two annual meetings in order that we might get in touch with our branch managers. The purpose of this month’s conference was to set goals and to layout plans for the year. At the beginning of the meeting, I gave a talk on the 7 Characteristics of highly effective managers. Here are the points I gave: 1.) – They are good leaders Effective managers are good leaders. Leadership in one word is INFLUENCE. Good leadership is influencing others to achieve our mission and vision. Systems and structures are managed but people are led. Managers wield authority while leaders apply influence. Managers administer programs, leaders develop people. Managers formulate policy, leaders set example. Managers control, leaders empower. Highly effective managers are good leaders. 2.) They continuously maintain the balance in the organization I have always maintained that there are three basic divisions in an … [Read more...]
How to display ads in your header and footer
I’ve been using the BLOGGER PRO word press theme by Design Disease for using this theme hehehehe:-)) for more than a month now and I love the theme. However I wanted to accomplish some stuff that I see are done by other bloggers on their site using the same theme as I have. In order to do this I have to tweak the theme a little bit. There are times that I get discouraged, especially when I could not find a solution to the desired effect I am looking for. I am sometimes tempted to switch themes in order to solve the problem immediately. However until now I have resisted that temptation. I figure out that it is better to face the problem than run away from it. I always tend to look at the glass half full hence I decided to stick it out with this theme and study hard in order to achieve the desired effect I want implemented on my blog. As I said I am no HTML expert, and I mostly rely on widgets to make tweaks to my blog. However since I desire to transcend to the level beyond the … [Read more...]
How to pass the Philippine Bar exams
More than 27 years ago Madame Justice Ameurfina Melencio-Hererra, Chairperson of the Committee on Bar Examinations submitted a report to the Philippine Supreme Court her observations on the 1980 bar exams. Her pointed remarks on how the examinees answered the 1980 bar exams could serve as a lesson for those who are aspiring to make it to the Philippine bar. The actual report is seven pages long. I have summarized the report in order to drive home the point. In order to hurdle the Philippine bar exams, examinees must have a mastery of what I call as the four “L’s.” in taking the bar exams, Language, Logic, Law and Layout. Here are the comments of Justice Herrera (In quotation) with regards to these four areas. • MASTERY IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: A.) LANGUAGE – How should you express your answer? 1.) “Only in a few instances was there a command of the English language.” 2.) ” . . . Require additional courses even in law school proper in the fields of English composition and … [Read more...]
A stronger Philippine Peso . . . Fearless forecast for the months to come
Before we resume our regular stock market series and discuss the strengthening of the Peso. This is an important factor that plays a vital role in determining the economic outlook of our country. This will also help you decide when considering investments. When the dollar-Peso Exchange rate was still P44+ to a dollar, I told my dad to dump all his dollar, exchange it for peso and put it in mutual funds. I don’t know if my dad has listened to my advice, but now the exchange rate is now nearing P 40.00 to a dollar. For those of you living in the Philippines and who has still dollars in their accounts, it is not yet too late to exchange it to avoid loosing more in the months or even years to come. Except if something really bad happens to our political scenery or if there is a global economic catastrophe that will affect the world market, there is no reason that the Peso should continue to stop appreciating. I am not saying this because I am an expert in economics or that I … [Read more...]
