Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

Response to KJV onlyist arguments on Proverbs 18:18

October 27, 2021 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

In my usual interaction with KJV onlyist online, I saw this (once again very annoying and misinformed) meme alleging that the New King James Version is a defective translation as opposed to the King James Version.     The problem issue is actually with the Hebrew word “laham” (לָהַם)This Hebrew word could either mean to burn in, ranke – wound or could mean swallow greedily, swallowed, dainties, delicacies, choice morsels, dainty morsels. As in any word with multiple meanings, context is therefore the key to drawing out the right meaning of this word in this particular context. The verse says “Prov. 18:8 The words of a talebearer are like ___________, And they go down into the inmost body.” Now which would make sense ? Wounds going down into the inmost body or dainties, delicacies, choice morsels, dainty morsels ? Take note that whatever is likened to is likened to the “words of the talebearer.” Obviously, dainties, delicacies, choice morsels, dainty … [Read more...]

Ten myths of stock market investing – Part 2

October 13, 2021 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Last time in the “Ten myths of stock market investing – Part 1” I discussed the top three myths in stock market investing and cited that these reasons are probably why people don’t invest in the stock market. I have successfully debunked those myths, so we continue today with the next 3 myths. 4.) The stock market is manipulated This is my brother’s favorite excuse. I don’t blame him; the truth is that despite strict and tight regulations; there are still stock manipulations that had happened in history and in stock markets all over the world. However take note that if you study the stock manipulations that has happened in history, you will discover that these only refers to individual stocks and not the entire market. Also most of these stocks are stocks of company that seem to pop out of nowhere, had little or no history of being profitable and yet people bought them based on rumors. So even if there are stock manipulations that have happened this does not mean that the … [Read more...]

Ten myths of stock market investing – Part 1

September 29, 2021 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Previously we learned about “Ten good reasons why I love investing in the stock market” By now, you must be very excited to start investing in the stock market. However before we go into the “how” of proper stock market investing, let’s take a look at the misconceptions or myths of stock market investing in order that you might truly have the right investing perspective. People have a lot of misconceptions about stock market investing. Most of the time because of these reasons they end up not investing in the stock market at all thereby missing a great opportunity to take advantage of probably the greatest money machine man has ever invented. Because of these reasons also, people miss some great market opportunities wherein prices are so cheap. These opportunities could only occur once every 3 to 5 years. Also, because of these misconceptions, people end up getting burned and end up vowing to themselves never to get involved in stock market investing. There are lots of myths and … [Read more...]

Is the emergence of human behaviour gradual or a result of a “revolution”?

September 15, 2021 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

When did language, culture, consciousness and “modern” human behavior as we perceived it to be, begun? Did it begin 10,000, 30,000, 50,000 or 300,000 years ago? When did it all start? What are the reasons for its emergence? How did it all begin? These are the nagging questions that Cognitive archeology and other disciplines related to the study of man and origins are trying to answer The debate rages on. In the battle of ideas, the war is being fought through words. Warring factions have taken their positions and the camp has been divided into two. The first major faction argues that modern human behavior arose suddenly and nearly simultaneously some 40,000 to 50,000 years ago. As to why this happened, proponents of this idea however cannot agree to the cause of this and this camp can be subdivided further. Some believe that this was all caused by a genetic mutation. Other contend that this “Human Revolution,” “Upper Paleolithic Revolution” or what others would like to call as the … [Read more...]

Carmina Topacio on making a moving music masterpiece

July 1, 2020 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Almost a decade ago I wrote an article filed under my “Music” category entitled “Who on earth is Carmina Topacio ?” Carmina at that time was an 18 year old rising youtube star with about 8,000 subscribers in her youtube channel. I ended the article with some sort of a prophecy, that “she will be added to the long list of Filipino stars discovered on the internet.” The one thing unique about Carmina Topacio is not only does she have a beautiful voice and face but she also plays several musical instruments and does original compositions. Her compositions are beautiful and truly a works of art. She is one of the few original composer and singer that I see that truly pours out herself into her music. As Vincent Van Gogh masterfully expresses himself on the canvass, Carmina Topacio pours out her heart and soul in her music. She posted several of her compositions and sings songs composed by others as well. But after about less than 10 songs posted, she seemed to be inactive in her … [Read more...]
