Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

Can’t upload to your host via FTP ? This could be your solution

December 10, 2007 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

I was suppose to launch my blog as early as the last week of September Unfortunately I encountered a barrage of technical problems that prevent me from doing so. In order that you could fully understand what I am talking about let me start from the beginning. I was scouting for a good hosting company and then Lunar Pages caught my eye. They offered $ 700 worth of free software (Coffee cup) if I signed up for a year. So I signed up for a hosting account at Lunar pages at the last week of September. I was so pissed off because they wouldn’t accept my credit that was the first bad experience I had with them. Later on I resolved the issue by paying them via paypal. After several days I wondered why my account was still not activated so I wrote them. They said paypal has not remitted the money to them. But paypal said the money has been paid to them. They had been passing the buck between them back and forth. I was so mad but I could not do anything because I already paid. The problem … [Read more...]

Why you should use the Opera browser

December 3, 2007 by Zigfred Diaz 5 Comments

For those of you still using Internet Explorer to surf the web you should know that Internet Explorer is not the only internet browser on earth. The fact that most people use internet explorer does not make it the most fast, secure or the best browser available today. It just so happens that because Microsoft dominates the Operating system battle with its Windows Operating system that Internet Explorer has become quite popular. The latest statistics reveal that more than 60 % of the world uses Internet Explorer as its browser. Most people would agree that Bill Gates’ “evil empire” profits too much from selling its wares, but sadly they continue to use Microsoft software without making an effort to shift to Open Source or other cheaper software. However this is not a Bill Gates bashing post and I do not hate Bill Gates nor do I hate Microsoft. There are lots of other browsers out there, Wikipedia has listed more than 30 browsers in the article“comparison of web browsers” Most experts … [Read more...]

The future of reading . . .The Amazon Kindle

December 1, 2007 by Zigfred Diaz 4 Comments

For several centuries now, technology has advanced so much. We have conquered the moon, telegrams are almost obsolete, everybody is getting more connected through the internet and advances in telecommunications. However there are some things that have not changed through the years, one of those things is the way we read, we still read with printed pages. In the late part of this century, several changes were attempted to change the way we read. Books in electronic formats began circulating through the internet. However only a few devices were produced that were considered as a permanent substitute to change the way we read. All of this is about to change right now. Online retailer giant, Amazon have one such device that could permanently change the way we read and will most likely become a substitute to the paper based materials that we are used to. Not to mention that it will help lower the cost of reading materials since it is delivered in electronic format. It is environmentally … [Read more...]

How to make your Word Press pages appear in the order you want them to

November 25, 2007 by Zigfred Diaz 1 Comment

In my last post I discussed how to create a “Home” button that redirects to your post page. Since I created my home button after I created my other pages my dilemma now is that my home button appears after the other pages. In the current version of Word Press (version 2.3.1) there is no option provided with regards to setting the order of your pages the way you want it to appear. I have three pages in my website. Those are HOME, ABOUT and CONTACT. I want them to be shown in that order. However since Word press places pages in the order they were created, the order of my pages was ABOUT, CONTACT and HOME. I looked for solutions in the internet and I found out about this helpful plugin it’s called “My Page Order” You can download the plug in at http://geekyweekly.com/mypageorder After you have downloaded the plug-in follow the instructions given in the above mentioned site, and you should be able to solve your problem. … [Read more...]
