Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

My top ten favorite Ninoy Aquino Quotes

August 21, 2009 by Zigfred Diaz 23 Comments

I’ve searched online for Ninoy Aquino quotes, but I have not found some online sources. In this connection to honor the great man, and in honor of his 26th death anniversary this day, I am coming up with my top ten favorite Ninoy Aquino quotes much as I have come up with my top ten favorite Cory Aquino quotes. I have to extract the quotes in his speeches.

As a person of influence and widely considered by most Filipinos as a national hero, Ninoy Aquino’s words will echo throughout history and will continue to be quoted by men and women who dare to make a difference. Ninoy Aquino was a brilliant speaker, eloquent and full of charisma. He was full of passion for the fight for freedom. He could indeed have been a great president, but sadly in the words of former Senator Jovito Salonga he became the greatest president that we never had. Ninoy Aquino is a gifted speaker and as a journalist is a gifted writer as well. In fact he wrote a poem which is has been transformed into a song by Jose Mari Chan entitled “I have fallen in love with the same woman 3 times” This poem and song is dedicated to his dear beloved wife, President Cory Aquino. (It would be so much better if he also gave her a dereon at the same time hehehe)Ninoy Aquino may have other great quotes that can be extracted from his other speeches and writings, but these are my top ten favorite Ninoy Aquino quotes.

Ninoy Aquino quotes, number 10 – “. . There has never been a single dictator in history that has lived forever and so I tell Mr. Marcos to study the lessons of history before it is too late. . . ”

Ninoy Aquino quotes, number 9 – ”The great “legitimizer” of government is the ballot not the bullet”

Ninoy Aquino quotes, number 8 – “. . . We should not depend on one man, we should depend on all of us. All of us is expandable in the cause for freedom and therefore I say stand up now and be a leader, and when all of us are leaders, we will expedite the cause of freedom”

Ninoy Aquino quotes number 7 – “. . . I believe that we Filipinos could not fight for our freedom, we do not deserve it, we should not depend on the Americans, we should depend on ourselves . . . “

Ninoy Aquino quotes, number 6 – “. . . What can one man do if the Filipino people love their slavery, if the Filipino people have lost their voice and would not say no to a tyrant, what can one man do. I have not army, I have no following, I have no money, I only have my indomitable spirit…”

Ninoy Aquino quotes, number 5 – “. . .When you condone tyranny you share in its corruption and its lowliness”

Ninoy Aquino quotes, number 4 – “The meaning of our struggle is to be able to return the freedom. First we must return the freedom so that all segments of our community whether from the left or from the right will have the right to speak and then in that open debate in that clash of debate in the marketplace we will produce the clash between the thesis and the anti-thesis and then we will have the synthesis for the Filipino people”

Ninoy Aquino quotes, number 3 – “I do not hold the key to our liberation, I do not know all the solutions to our many problem all I know is that if the situation continues in the Philippines, then blood will flow, and when blood flows, there will be no victor and there will be no vanquished because all of us will be a victim of our folly”

Ninoy Aquino quotes, number 2 – “ . . We only ask that freedom be returned, we ask for nothing more but we will accept nothing less.”

And the number one Ninoy Aquino quote which I believe is also everybody’s favorite:

“THE FILIPINO IS WORTH DYING FOR”

hello, i’d like to share some of my fave Ninoy Aquino quotes:
-“Welcome your suffering…when we are in glory we don’t know HIM but when we suffer, we remember HIM.” – from The 700 Club interview
-“God will not burden you with a load you cannot carry.”
-“We cannot always have our own way all the time.” – excerpt from Ninoy’s letter to his son Noynoy

I fully agree! Sana like Rizal si Ninoy may book din na itututor sa school. He has done a very good example of real hero. I am voting for Noynoy because he’s my Hero’s son. I know Noynoy is as good person as his father. He’ll never put us down.

“The moment you say no, you’re beginning to inquire. The moment you say no, you’re beginning to protest. The moment you say no to tyranny you’re beginning the struggle, the long lonely road to freedom.”

“Learn to say no. No to tyranny, no to corruption, no to all this degradation of human dignity.”

Am currently reading “NINOY AQUINO-THE MAN, THE LEGEND” by Asuncion Maramba. I am a Filipina American who went back home to PI for the first time in over 20 years. I have been captivated by this man ever since.

This is great! I thought Cory’s speeches were awesome but Ninoy’s are absolutely brilliant. Great minds really do think alike.

I agree with the poster above on Ninoy having a book and children studying it at school. I think the more realistic goal would be to have a subject in college on the life and philosophies of Ninoy Aquino Jr. wherein students would dissect his speeches like this and hope that they find a goldmine of ideals to live by.
