My top ten favorite Cory Aquino Quotes

August 6, 2009 by Zigfred Diaz 2 Comments

Cory Aquino was indeed one of our greatest leaders and a soon to be a national hero. These past few days I have been writing several post in her honor, if you have not read about it check out the following “The greatest legacy of Cory Aquino part 1” and then proceed to the “Greatest legacy of Corazon Aquino part 2.” You can then read all about The history, music and lyrics of the song “I have fallen in love with the same woman three times.” Ninoy Aquino’s love poem to the former president.

As a great leaders her words will echo throughout history and will continue to be quoted by men and women who dare to make a difference in this world. I’ve developed acne spending sleepless nights just trying to find these quotes (heheheh not really, so no need to buy acne creams) As president, Cory Aquino made several quotes but myy top ten favorite Cory Aquino Quotes are as follows:

Cory Aquino quotes number 10 – “I believe that during these times, we should not forget that many sacrificed to regain our democracy.”

Cory Aquino quotes number 9 – “I was very privileged and really blessed with so many material and spiritual gifts that I should give back, … I should do something for my people, but … it’s not just in politics that you can be a servant of the people, you can do it in so many other ways.”

Cory Aquino quotes number 8 – “I don’t have any formula for ousting a dictator or building democracy. All I can suggest is to forget about yourself and just think of your people. It’s always the people who make things happen.”

Cory Aquino quotes number 7 – “Freedom of expression – in particular, freedom of the press – guarantees popular participation in the decisions and actions of government, and popular participation is the essence of our democracy.”

Cory Aquino quotes number 6“National leaders who find themselves wilting under the withering criticisms by members of the media, would do well not to take such criticism personally but to regard the media as their allies in keeping the government clean and honest, its services”

Cory Aquino quotes number 5 – “It is true you cannot eat freedom and you cannot power machinery with democracy. But then neither can political prisoners turn on the light in the cells of a dictatorship.”

Cory Aquino quotes number 4 – “Reconciliation should be accompanied by justice, otherwise it will not last. While we all hope for peace it shouldn’t be peace at any cost but peace based on principle, on justice.”

Cory Aquino quotes number 3 – “I’ve reached a point in life where it’s no longer necessary to try to impress. If they like me the way I am, that’s good. If they don’t, that’s too bad.”

Cory Aquino quotes number 2 – “I just do whatever it is that I believe I should do, regardless of the risks to my life.”

And the number one Cory Aquino quote which I believe is also everybody’s favorite:

“I would rather die a meaningful death than to live a meaningless life.”

She is truly wise and in my opinion has the right to be declared a hero or our country.
