Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

Advice for the bar examinee – Part 3

May 11, 2010 by Zigfred Diaz 3 Comments

This is the last and final installment of the series “Advice for the bar examinee.” In part 1 & part 2 of the series Prof. Riguera gave some very interesting tips on what to do before the bar examinations. Now he concludes this series by discussing what to do the night before, during the bar exams and after the bar exams. DURING SEPTEMBER AND THE BAR EXAM AVOID UNNECESSARY STRESS AND DISTRACTIONS. Some stress and nerves is unavoidable during the 7-dfbx review and exam week and in fact helps to drive you harder in your studies. However undue and excessive stress and nerves is an enemy of the bar examinee as it results in a lack of sleep and hinders proper thinking both while studying and taking the exam itself. If you feel that you are unduly stressed or worried, learn relaxation techniques like yoga and deep breathing. Prayer and meditation are powerful relaxation techniques. Learning to face and accept the possibility of failure also serves to relax us and unburden us of … [Read more...]

Advice for the bar examinee – Part 2

May 3, 2010 by Zigfred Diaz 2 Comments

Taking the bar exams in September 2010 ? These tips from Prof. Manuel Riguera of Jurists Bar Review Center would surely help you a lot ! This is part 2 of a 3 part series. Click here to read Advice for the bar examinee part 1. CHOOSE YOUR BAR REVIEW CENTER SMARTLY. There are three important things which you should take into account in choosing a bar review center: The line-up of lecturers, the schedule, and the existence of a coaching or mentoring program. The line-up of lecturers is important. Get the line-up and study these carefully. In appraising the line-up, get the opinion of successful bar examinees and your law professors. Word usually gets around among the bar reviewees and the law academe about the outstanding and the mediocre lecturers. Pay special attention to the lecturers in the subjects in which you feel you are weak. The schedule is also of capital importance. Some bar review centers draw their schedule based on the availability of the lecturers rather than on … [Read more...]

Lex Pareto Notes now available in all National Bookstores nationwide !!!

May 14, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 15 Comments

The other day I got a long distance call from our publisher. She gave me a good news. She informed me that our book, the Lex Pareto Notes is now available in National Bookstores nationwide !!! As soon as I heard the news, I waited for several days since I considered that it will take some time for them to ship it to their branches. However after 3 days somebody informed me that the Lex Pareto Notes was already available in the National Bookstore in Ayala Cebu. In the following days, I received calls from law students asking me when will volume 1 be made available. They also informed me that they came across the Lex Pareto Notes in the National Bookstore branches.  By the way I have already mailed the script for volume 1 to our publisher. I estimate that it will be made available sometime in Late June or early July this year. (2008) I went to Ayala to see for myself. I browsed over the stack of textbooks and after seeing our book displayed, I was so proud and happy to see our book … [Read more...]

Making the most out of your bar exams review – Part 1

April 30, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 1 Comment

Next to waiting for the bar exams results, the grueling 5 months review before the bar exams is probably the most difficult trail by fire experience (Reminds me of burning your finger in an electric fireplace insert) a would be lawyer would go through before actually becoming a lawyer. The 5 month review is no joke at all. I would even go to the extent of saying that the experience is more gruesome than the actual bar exams month itself. For some, the cost involved in terms of time, money and resources is even equivalent or more to your four years in law school. The 5 month review before the bar exams runs somewhere from late March to late August. Since this period is the last time wherein you can review the concepts you have learned from doing four years law school before taking the actual bar exams, you must therefore make the best out of this review period. Here are some tips that I have personally experienced on how to make the best out of your bar review. The points given below … [Read more...]

Long wait finally over – 2007 Bar exam results released !

March 31, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 2 Comments

Yesterday (Saturday) was probably the longest day ever for my friend. At last the bar exam results was released. Sadly she was not included among those who made it. I did not know how to comfort her. No amount of words can try to ease the pain. Preparing for the Philippine bar exams is no joke. The physical and mental torture is unbearable. The waiting period is often times more agonizing than preparing for or taking the actual exam itself. Truly the 2007 bar exams is among the hardest if not the most hardest in Philippine bar exams history. The exam results was supposed to be released last Friday. (See my previous post entitled Bar Exams 2007 to be released by Friday or Saturday) However because of the low passing rate, the Philippine Supreme Court has decided to postpone the announcement of those who passed. They deliberated on the matter and the fate of more than 5,000 candidates hanged in the balance as it was decided within the hallowed chambers of the highest court of the … [Read more...]
