Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

Buy term invest the difference?

January 15, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Some of us has probably heard of the saying “Buy term, invest the difference” when it comes to buying insurance and considering investments. But do we really understand what this means? And if we do understand what this means, why do financial planners recommend that you buy term and invest the difference while your insurance agent is pushing you to buy their recommended product instead. Most whole life insurance products in the market today are considered rip offs. In fact, these kinds of products have already been considered obsolete in the United States. (Term insurance refers to insurance with life coverage only, whole life on the other hand refers to term policy with an investment component. These kinds of products are usually presented as helping you “force” to save for retirement. The problem with the investment part is that they do not usually give a good rate of return) Sadly insurance agents are still selling products like these in the Philippines. What is more sad is that … [Read more...]

How to get rid of the “TTMS NAA NA DIRE! DONT WORRY IM NOT A CORRUPT LIKE YOU!!” virus

January 14, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 3 Comments

There are just some people that have nothing to do in life than to make the lives of other people miserable. To the author of this virus, why don’t you get a life and try blogging instead? You might be able to make some money instead of spreading useless viruses? Anyway, I’m just venting out my anger. My shrink tells me it’s unhealthy to hold grudges against people. Hehehehehehe Last week my computer got infected by a virus. There is really no formal name for the virus since most of the anti-virus makers up to know have still not identified it. In fact when you search for a “remover” for this virus in google you cannot find any. (Correct me if I am wrong) There are only instructions on how to remove it and only a few websites are giving such instructions. In fact my onboard antivirus has still not identified it until now. The reason for this is because this virus is local. Yep, you got right, made in the Philippines. Since all of the big anti-virus makers are outside the country, … [Read more...]

Blessed in ways you may never know

January 13, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 2 Comments

There are just times in our life that we are so ungrateful that we forget that we are so blessed by God in so many ways but we fail to realize it. I received this as forwarded message in my email. I hope you will also be blessed by this. “If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won't survive the week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people around the world. If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's … [Read more...]

The 7 characteristics of highly effective managers

January 11, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 2 Comments

Yesterday we had our first semi-annual branch command conference. Our company holds two annual meetings in order that we might get in touch with our branch managers. The purpose of this month’s conference was to set goals and to layout plans for the year. At the beginning of the meeting, I gave a talk on the 7 Characteristics of highly effective managers. Here are the points I gave: 1.) – They are good leaders Effective managers are good leaders. Leadership in one word is INFLUENCE. Good leadership is influencing others to achieve our mission and vision. Systems and structures are managed but people are led. Managers wield authority while leaders apply influence. Managers administer programs, leaders develop people. Managers formulate policy, leaders set example. Managers control, leaders empower. Highly effective managers are good leaders. 2.) They continuously maintain the balance in the organization I have always maintained that there are three basic divisions in an … [Read more...]
