Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

An introduction to Affiliate Marketing

January 31, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Affiliate marketing is one way of earning from the internet. It is defined by Wikipedia as “a web-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts.” To put it simply let’s say A has a product that he wishes to sell on the internet. So he invites people like B, C and D to sell his products. B, C and D then post details of A’s product in their respective websites or blogs. Usually A provides them with free advertisement materials such as banners, HTML codes, preformatted email letters, Java script codes etc. B,C and D are called “Affiliates of A. If A makes a sale or if a visitor is referred to A’s site by B, C or D’s blog or website then B, C or D is given a certain form of compensation by A. There are different kinds of compensation schemes in affiliate marketing. The most popular one being Cost Per Sale (CPS), the others are Cost Per Action (CPA), Cost Per Click (CPC) and … [Read more...]

Inefficiency, the mother of all injustice

January 30, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 2 Comments

A lawyer friend of mine asks me to appear in one of his cases since he had several schedules during that day. The case is to be heard at Toledo City, about 50 kilometers from Cebu City, Philippines and about 45 minutes to 1 hour travel by private vehicle. So I studied the case and asked the client to drop by my house so that we can go together. The case was to be heard at 9 a.m. so we left at around 7:30 a.m. We arrived in Toledo City at around 8:30 a.m. When we went upstairs we were informed by the clerk of court that the Judge was not around. She said the judge decided not to go there that day since he was very busy with his other court. (The regular judge in this particular court was suspended so a temporary judge from another court has to take his place) She said that the hearing is rescheduled and that we will just be given notice as to when the schedule will be. I can understand the judge. It is not easy for him to hold two courts and I do not blame him for what … [Read more...]

What happened to your Christmas gifts and bonuses?

January 29, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Last Christmas, we probably received cash as gifts from some of our wealthier or purportedly wealthy relatives. Some have received a substantial amount, while others may have received a relatively small amount of money. Others may have received big bonuses or Christmas incentives. So what happened to the money that you received? Did you spend all of it already? Are you still keeping it under your mattress? Are you planning to buy some gifts with your Christmas bonuses ?  Here are some ideas ways on what to do with that money. 1.) Put your money in the bank – Contrary to what most people think, banks are not only a place where you could keep your money safe. Banks offer several ways wherein you can make your money grow. Savings account only offers small interest rates. Time deposits on the other hand offer a higher interest rate. Time deposits however are sort “long term investments” since you cannot withdraw your money for a long period of time. This will however give you a … [Read more...]

What on earth is VOIP ?

January 28, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 6 Comments

Last week I wrote something about VOIP in a post although the main topic was not all about VOIP but about business. Some of my readers who are not technology savvy are wondering what VOIP is. (Voice Over Internet Protocol) It is very important to know what VOIP is, since it is considered as the "Next big thing" to  computers. I will be writing more about this in the business category. For those of you who wish to understand what it is, here is a nice little clip from Youtube. The clip may be old (2004) but it tells you basically what VOIP is all about. By the way VOIP technology has somewhat advanced for the past 3 years. Here's the clip. … [Read more...]

My Favorite preacher

John MacArthur is the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California since 1969, and is the president of The Master's College (and the related The Master's Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California. He is a prolific writer and minister noted for his radio program titled Grace to You. MacArthur's theology can be considered a Dispensationalist and Calvinist, and a strong proponent of expository preaching. He has been acknowledged by Christianity Today as one of the most influential preachers of his time, and has frequently guessed on the Larry King Live TV talk show as a representative of an evangelical Christian perspective. He has authored or edited more than 150 books, most notably the MacArthur Study Bible, which has sold more than 1 million copies and received a Gold Medallion Book Award.  Other best-selling books include his MacArthur New Testament Commentary Series (more than 1 million copies), Twelve Ordinary Men, (more than 500,000 copies), and the … [Read more...]
