Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

February 19, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 2 Comments

Stock Market Conventions and Terms 2.) Searching for stock information Previously we tackled what a stock is and other things that are fundamental in order that we might be better equipped to become stock market traders or investors. Always remember that we live in the information technology age and in this age, knowledge is power. That is why it is very important that we have a good grasp of stock market terms and conventions before we tackle the nuances of actual buying and selling. The primary source of information of stocks that has been traded in the Philippine stock exchange is no other than the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) itself. So we will go to the website and try to make sense of the data that is presented there. Point your browsers to the Philippine stock Exchange website (PSE)(www.pse.org.ph) You will then be presented with the front page of the PSE website. Don’t worry that you cannot understand the stuff in there, we will just tackle them later on. We will … [Read more...]

How on earth did one dumb youtube video got more than 6 million views and what we could learn from it

February 18, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 1 Comment

The video has been added to youtube about 9 months ago, the exact date is May 22, 2007. To date, it has received a total of 7,764 comments in youtube and has been “favorited “43,030 times. It has been the referenced in about 106,000 website to date. Search for it has reached a considerable amount of volume that statistics for its search has already made it to Google Trends (Google trends only graphs searches that has become popular through the use of a certain algorithm) So popular is the video that the phrase “Charlie bit me“ itself has been used by several webmasters and several venture capitalist to make money out of it. In fact the boy’s mother released this statement in youtube “I have noticed that the phrase Charlie bit me is catching on and people are trying to profit of it . . .” I don’t blame the mother. (or the father , the youtube I.D only says “HDCYT”) After all it’s her kids and she was the one who uploaded the video. She and the kids should be the first to … [Read more...]

Lovest thou me more than these?

February 15, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 1 Comment

Such similar words could be uttered by lovers in this month of hearts. But such words were not uttered by one lover to another, rather these words were uttered by our Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in John chapter 21 verses 15 to 17. The story is quite a familiar one among Christians, but I believe we cannot fully grasp the full meaning of the chapter if we do not closely investigate the meanings of the words that Jesus used. The story goes like this as Jesus and Peter were having dinner, Jesus asked Peter if he loved him to which Peter replied “Yes” and then Jesus told him to “feed my lambs.” Afterwards Jesus again asked Peter the same question to which he replied in the affirmative and then Jesus told him again to “Feed my sheep.” Jesus asked Peter again the third time the same question. However the verse says that “Peter was grieved” and instead of replying in the affirmative, he simply told him “Lord thou knowest.” To which Jesus replied, “Feed my sheep.” Most people … [Read more...]

Love . . . it’s all Greek to me

February 14, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

As the world celebrates valentines day today, love no doubt fills the air. It is but fitting that we talk about this word love in the days to come. Let is therefore explore the meaning and the depth of the word itself and in order to fully understand it we have to go to the source of love which is God himself as expressed in his Word. The New Testament was written in the Greek language. Unlike English wherein we only have one word for love the Greeks have 5 different words for love. In the English language the context of the sentence conveys what we mean. However in New Testament Greek or “koine Greek” the word itself conveys the full meaning. To illustrate, in English when we say we love our dog, we love our country, we love our parents and we love our wife, we obviously do not refer to the same kind of love. But in Koine greek different words for the word love is used for different purposes. I do not claim to be a Koine greek scholar or an expert in languages. But the semantics of … [Read more...]

People always look up to other people for inspiration. One of the stories that inspired me to begin blogging and to explore internet marketing much further is that of Ashley Qualls, a 17 year old girl who built a million dollar company in the internet. Be inspired by her story in this short youtube clip. You can also read about Ashley Qualls in a previous post.
