Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

Why you should invest in Teak based patio and garden furniture

May 29, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Teak is a dense grained hardwood found in most of Southeast Asia. What’s great about this wood is that it is highly resistant to rot, warping, shrinkage and swelling. Teak also contains a high natural oil content which preserves the wood. Because of this you don’t have to worry if you leave your furniture outdoors for long periods of time. It is very smooth and does not splinter. The best thing about the wood is that it remains neutral in temperature and has a faint but pleasant smell of aroma. Teak has been used since time immemorial. Because of its durability, it has been used in constructing ship decks. In fact the first teak outdoor furniture was made from the decks of old ships. Until today many of the public parks in England have centuries old benches made from teak wood. So next time you are thinking about buying furniture for your garden or your patio consider buying teak patio furniture or teak garden furniture. … [Read more...]

What Open Office could do to beat the crap out of Microsoft Office

May 26, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Open Office is perhaps the most popular alternative office suite to Microsoft Office. People are switching to Open Office because it is free and it basically does the same functions that Microsoft Office does. Were it not for this fact, people would still stick it out with Microsoft Office. There are several suggestions I would like to make in order to make Open Office be truly competitive against Microsoft Office. I believe these suggestions will make people start to consider Open Office and perhaps even buy it even if they put a price tag on it. (But this is not going to happen since Open Office is open source) The following are what I suggest in order for Open office to truly beat the crap out of Microsoft Office: 1.) Faster Loading time – It has always been a fact that Open Office loads slower than Microsoft Office. People with faster computers may not feel this. But for those who are still using “Jurassic” era machines, you can relate to what I am telling you. In order … [Read more...]

Counting Cards in Vegas?

May 23, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

In my previous posts entitled “Increasing your online income through counting cards” I talked about how they keyword “counting cards” could be exploited to boosts your traffic and in return boosts your online income. But instead of exploiting the “counting cards” keywords, you want to play your luck at the real blackjack instead so plan your Las Vegas travel and hit the road. Unfortunately you end up loosing a lot of money so you decided that you just couldn’t figure out the counting cards methods used by the MIT blackjack team or that you aren’t just as smart as them so you decided to pack your bags and go home. But wait, before you do, set aside the counting cards mania for a while and get to enjoy Las Vegas. Although “Sin City” is known primarily for it’s debauchery and gambling, there are other sites to see such as several art galleries, museums, riding a Gondola, seeing fountain sculpture comes to life, eating the world’s largest hot dog, strolling over a simulated … [Read more...]

Why I don’t play golf

May 23, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

I’ve played “mini-golf” with my relatives in my grandfather’s house. (He has a “mini-golf” course in his front yard) I’ve only played golf in a full course once and that was years ago. I never had the chance to play it again although I could if I wanted to, but I never did for a lot of reasons. First, I don’t have a set of clubs and if I got one it would be too expensive for me. Secondly, I do not know anybody personally who is my age who enjoys the game and who takes efforts to really go out and play it consistently. Thirdly, the game is somewhat expensive for us here in the Philippines. Fourthly, I don’t really enjoy playing in golf in a full course, I enjoy playing mini-golf more. Lastly, I am not really good in the game and I don’t see any point of being good at it considering the above mentioned reasons. I’ve never understood why a golfer needs so many clubs when he can do what he is suppose to do with 2 or 3 clubs. I even heard that there are clubs right now that does … [Read more...]

Health is wealth. . . But who is getting really wealthy?

May 20, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 2 Comments

Health is wealth. We use to often hear that saying. The phrase actually means that if you have good health you are wealthy, for the true measure of wealth is not only money. But could this saying have a different meaning? What if the saying has a literal meaning for some people? Well, in the Philippines for some it really does. Today the market is saturated with so called “Herbal food supplements” and savvy business people are catching on to this herbal food supplements food craze. I have nothing against herbal food supplements. In fact I take several of them myself everyday. Some of them are even highly recommended by good and reputable doctors. What I am against is the marketing of this product as a “cure all.” While it is true that some herbal food supplements are very effective against certain diseases, the fact that the Philippines’ bureau of food and drugs has only labeled these products as “food supplements” they should only be marketed as such. What is worse is … [Read more...]
