Raising smarter kids is always in the mind of every parent whether they think about it consciously or unconsciously. I have in my desk a book on raising smarter kids entitled “Simulating your child’s intelligence.” The objective of the book is to define what intelligence is and to educate parents in raising smarter kids. There are a number of suggestions and many “how to” details in raising smarter kids, however something that caught my eye is the section on exposing your kids to arts and creativity. Youtube video of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony
Beijing has certainly raised the standard when it comes to producing the opening ceremonies for the Olympics! I watched the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony live via Dream Cable pay per view. I wished that I was in Beijing during that time. The Chinese has certainly proven that they are ready for the world! A combination of modern technology, traditional Chinese theater arts and choreography coupled with jaw dropping fireworks certainly made the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony a splendid success. There are reports that came out that some of the fireworks shown on television during the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony were computer generated. They are saying that it is a fake. But who cares? You don’t watch the MATRIX and then accuse the director that the actions of Keanu Reeves were computer generated. What’s important is that you watched a fantastic movie. As of the time of this writing, nobody still knows what the official Beijing Olympics theme song is. They say that the official Beijing Olympics theme song will only be known during the opening of the Beijing Olympics on 8/8/08. Watch the Beijing Olympics opening in DVD Click here to order ! There are several songs that could possibly be chosen as the official Beijing Olympics theme song. If you go to youtube and type “Beijing Olympics theme song,” youtube will give you several songs with different titles that purport to be the Olympics theme song. One of my favorite songs that may not be the official Beijing Olympics theme song is the song entitled “Welcome to Beijing.” This is probably the official theme song for the City of Beijing in welcoming tourists to Beijing, but I don’t think this is the official Olympics theme song. What happened to my “Olympics 2008 standing” post?
Last August 4, 2008 I wrote the post entitled “Beijing Olympics 2008 standing.” I figured out that a lot of people will be searching for the keyword “Olympics 2008 standing” since the keyword “Olympics 2004 standing” received several hits for a short period of time. In short I optimized this blog for that keyword, knowing full well that I will receive a lot of visitors for this keyword. Within 24 hours, my post got indexed by google. Since only a few bloggers were writing for that keyword, I immediately made it to the top 5 in the SERP. After 2 days, my position improved to number 2 and then yesterday I made it to the number 1 spot for the keyword “Olympics 2008 standing.” I was excited of the possible deluge of visitors that would make it in my site. However when I checked last night, I was surprised that I am no longer in the number 1 spot in google for the keyword “Olympics 2008 standing.” What’s worst about this is that I am not even in the top 10 nor in the top 500! What will happen on 8/8/08
8/8/08 is when it all happens. It is considered by many as the luckiest day of the year. That is why a lot of events are happening on this day. The reason behind this is because the number 8 is considered to be a “lucky” number by the Chinese. It has been said that the Chinese are so fascinated with this number that you have to pay extra if you want it in your telephone number or your license plate. There are a couple of reasons why the Chinese consider 8 as a lucky number. Consider the following reasons: 1.) Some people say the number 8 (ba) in China sounds like the word for “Prosperity” (fa) 2.) Other people say that it is considered lucky because when you write the number 8 most people tend to end writing it with their pen going for the an upper stroke unlike other numbers wherein you write it with a downward stroke. 3.)
