Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

Where we spent our Holy week (2008)

April 25, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 5 Comments

For all Filipinos, whether, Catholics, Protestants or Muslims, we all have one thing in common, Holy week means a long vacation for all of us. Personally, I did not want to go out on Holy week for a vacation. I was thinking that I will spend time finishing my book, promoting my blog or spend my time watching some movies. However my wife wanted us to go out for an overnight stay at a beach resort somewhere in the Northern part of Cebu, specifically San Remigio which is famous for its white sandy beaches and its having the longest coast line in Cebu. I was about to make a reservation when my parents called. They asked me where we will spend our Holy week. I told them about our plans. They said they also plan to stay overnight in Hidden Paradise, a mountain resort in San Fernando, Cebu (Around 20 kilometers from Cebu City and about 45 minutes to an hour drive from our house. (The place is also known as “CampXTerra” for outdoor adventurers. Check out their site: … [Read more...]

Bohol Escapade !

April 11, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 4 Comments

Cebu City has currently 6 bar review centers. Of all the bar review centers, I believe we are the ones that has a very strong and intensive marketing program. We have utilized almost every form of marketing medium available. We have posted posters and distributed flyers in courts, study centers and law schools. We have utilized the radio and released press releases in newspapers. We are even contacting our own alumni to promote Jurists Bar Review Center. I just hope that our efforts may translate into more enrollments, considering that we are the new kid on the block and the competition to get bar reviewees is so stiff. Now that we have saturated Cebu City and Dumaguete City, (The Jurists Bar Review administration from Manila has saturated the nearby islands of Samar, Leyte and most of northern Mindanao) it was time for us to take our marketing efforts to the nearby island of Bohol, specifically in it’s capital city, Tagbilaran City. Bohol is famous for its ecotourism and … [Read more...]

Have a good laugh with this Volare yotube video

March 21, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Volare is Italian for the infinitive form of the verb "to fly." It is also part of the refrain from the song entitled "Nel blu dipinto di blu" (literally "In the blue painted blue") by Domenico Modugno and Franco Migliacci. The refrain became so popular that from that time on the song was known as "Volare." Well “Volare” does not have anything to do with money saving tips, financial management or any of the major topics in this blog. I just want to give you guys a good laugh. Check out this “Volare” adaptation by two Filipino self styled youtube comedians who call themselves "moymoy palaboy" and laugh yourself out. You can also check out some of their popular yotube videos. P.S: The end of the yotube video simply says: "And since that time the mustache was never found" … [Read more...]

Love . . . it’s all Greek to me

February 14, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

As the world celebrates valentines day today, love no doubt fills the air. It is but fitting that we talk about this word love in the days to come. Let is therefore explore the meaning and the depth of the word itself and in order to fully understand it we have to go to the source of love which is God himself as expressed in his Word. The New Testament was written in the Greek language. Unlike English wherein we only have one word for love the Greeks have 5 different words for love. In the English language the context of the sentence conveys what we mean. However in New Testament Greek or “koine Greek” the word itself conveys the full meaning. To illustrate, in English when we say we love our dog, we love our country, we love our parents and we love our wife, we obviously do not refer to the same kind of love. But in Koine greek different words for the word love is used for different purposes. I do not claim to be a Koine greek scholar or an expert in languages. But the semantics of … [Read more...]
