Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

Did the NIV corrupt their translation to favor homosexuality ?

March 29, 2020 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

KJV onlyists often make outlandish claims against modern translations.  I often encounter this in my numerous engagement with KJV Onlyists in social media. This time the text in dispute is 2 Kings 9:31. However the issue is not limited to just a mere translation of the text. This time KJV Onlyists accuse the NIV translation committee of being more committed "to gender equality" and that such commitment "exceeds their commitment to accurate translation" Here is their argument: 2 Samuel 3:29 – David Curses His Own Family Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread. (KJV, Harkavy, JPS Tanach) Let it fall on the head of Yo’av and all his father’s family. May Yo’av’s family always have someone with a hemorrhage or tzara‘at, or who has to walk with a cane, or who dies by the sword or who … [Read more...]

Response to KJV onlyist arguments on 2 Kings 9:31

KJV onlyists often make outlandish claims against modern translations.  I often encounter this in my numerous engagement with KJV Onlyists in social media. This time the text in dispute is 2 Kings 9:31. 2 Kings 9:31 – Jezebel Readies for Her Close-Up And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. (2 Kings 9:30) And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master? (KJV) And as Iehu entred at the gate, she sayd: Had Zimri peace, which slue his maister (Bishop’s) And as Jehu entered the gate, she said, “Is it peace, you Zimri, murderer of your master?” (ESV) As Jehu entered the gate, she asked, "Have you come in peace, you Zimri, you murderer of your master?" (NIV) As Jehu came through the gate, she called out, "You Zimri! You assassin! Why are you here?" (GNT) After Jehu had dispatched King Jehoram of Israel and King Ahaziah of Judah, he came to finish off … [Read more...]

Response to KJV onlyist arguments on 2 Corinthians 2:17

March 8, 2020 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

KJV Onlyists often spins out memes and various short posters to spread their disinformation, conspiracy theories, half truths and lies in the internet more particularly in social media and being an active internet user I often come across them. The particular text in dispute here is 2 Corinthians 2:17 wherein it is alleged that the NKJV "Hides Bible Corruption." Here's the meme and below is my response to it. The meme should be entitled “KJV ONLYISTS HIDES AND CORRUPTS THE REAL TRUTH AND SPINS CONSPIRACY THEORY INSTEAD THAT MODERN TRANSLATION CORRUPTS SCRIPTURES” 🤣🤣🤣 On the contrary, the KJV did not actually fully capture what the underlying Greek text is actually saying. The Greek word translated by the KJV as "corrupt" is actually the word "kapēleuontes" which in reality is best translated as "peddle for profit." Ronald Trail in the SIL Exegetical commentary writes how the translations translate such word, "pres. act. participle of καπηλεύω (LN 57.202) (BAGD p. 403): … [Read more...]

Response to KJV onlyist arguments on 1 Corinthians 14:38

February 23, 2020 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

This is the first of my series of articles devoted to debunking the claims of several well known KJV Onlyists actively promoting their false man made doctrine of KJV Onlyism. In particular this is response to the article written by Will Kinney in his website https://brandplucked.webs.com. In there he wrote an article entitled: “1 Corinthians 14:38 - the Farce they call the "science" of Textual Criticism. ” Kinney and I has constantly been interacting in an online forum on his position on KJV Onlyism. I will not copy paste the entire article here, you could just check it out in his website. In summary it is his usual rant that only the KJV (and other Textus Receptus Bibles) got the translation of 1 Cor. 14:38 right and that all other modern translations are wrong. As he always does, he further promotes his “modern Bible versions – Roman Catholic conspiracy theory,” insisting that the mistranslation of modern translations is deliberately done in order to corrupt God’s … [Read more...]
