Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

Why you should invest in Teak based patio and garden furniture

May 29, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Teak is a dense grained hardwood found in most of Southeast Asia. What’s great about this wood is that it is highly resistant to rot, warping, shrinkage and swelling. Teak also contains a high natural oil content which preserves the wood. Because of this you don’t have to worry if you leave your furniture outdoors for long periods of time. It is very smooth and does not splinter. The best thing about the wood is that it remains neutral in temperature and has a faint but pleasant smell of aroma. Teak has been used since time immemorial. Because of its durability, it has been used in constructing ship decks. In fact the first teak outdoor furniture was made from the decks of old ships. Until today many of the public parks in England have centuries old benches made from teak wood. So next time you are thinking about buying furniture for your garden or your patio consider buying teak patio furniture or teak garden furniture. … [Read more...]

Why I don’t play golf

May 23, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

I’ve played “mini-golf” with my relatives in my grandfather’s house. (He has a “mini-golf” course in his front yard) I’ve only played golf in a full course once and that was years ago. I never had the chance to play it again although I could if I wanted to, but I never did for a lot of reasons. First, I don’t have a set of clubs and if I got one it would be too expensive for me. Secondly, I do not know anybody personally who is my age who enjoys the game and who takes efforts to really go out and play it consistently. Thirdly, the game is somewhat expensive for us here in the Philippines. Fourthly, I don’t really enjoy playing in golf in a full course, I enjoy playing mini-golf more. Lastly, I am not really good in the game and I don’t see any point of being good at it considering the above mentioned reasons. I’ve never understood why a golfer needs so many clubs when he can do what he is suppose to do with 2 or 3 clubs. I even heard that there are clubs right now that does … [Read more...]

Ghosts in your basement ?

May 17, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 1 Comment

My grandparents have a basement in their old house. When I was a kid they used to tell us not to go in there because there are some “spirits” living there. In fact a lot of people tell us a lot of ghost stories connected with such basement. I always thought that they were only trying to scare us because they do not want us to touch any of their stuff stored there. Unfortunately, the stories stuck with some of my cousins, aunts and uncles. Later on the old house was converted into a school and the basement was utilized as a classroom. The teacher and the students stopped holding classes there because a lot of students got sick and that there were this strange feeling and odor in the basement. The living in the basement ghost story became alive again. Although I believe in evil spirits but I do not believe that they do not lurk around my grandparent’s basement. However a different kind of “ghost” lurks around not only in my grandparent’s basement but in all basements as … [Read more...]

Its summer right now in the Philippines and people are traveling a lot. In the next few months it will be summer in the United States. Summer spells vacation time for a lot of people since classes are out and the weather is perfect. The following are my tips in order that you might make the best out of your vacation: 1.) Make travel plans – The best way to make the most out of your travel is to iron out your travel plans. In today's information technology age it is impossible for you not to get information on any destination you are planning to go to. Aside from helping you map out where you are going or what side trips you will be taking, planning also helps you save on travel expenses since unnecessary trips and unnecessary expenses will be minimized if not eliminated. Making travel plans also involves a lot of budgeting. Make sure that your destination has an ATM or a bank nearby. Otherwise you might not be able to enjoy your trip because you lack the cash to pay your local tour … [Read more...]
