Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

September 16, 2014 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Last March 2014 I enrolled myself in the Certificate in Community Organising & Development held at the the University of Southern Philippines Foundation. This is a 40+ hours program brought to you by the only three schools offering the Bachelor's degree in Social Work in Cebu, the University of Southern Philippines, St. Theresa’s college and Southwestern University. Faculty members from the three universities will be taught us the principles and practices of Social work for the duration of the program. This is a 3 credit unit certificate which can be credited if you wish to proceed with the Master’s in Social Work degree offered by the University of Southern Philippines, the only institution in Cebu offering a master’s degree in Social work. Normally the course schedule is every Saturdays and Sundays but for our batch, which is batch 5, we had lectures for the whole day, Saturday and Sunday and then we had 4 hours of lectures on weekdays from Monday to Friday. Accounting for non-accountants and financial management seminar

April 22, 2012 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

The Street Strategist has emailed me that he is conducting another “Accounting for non-accountants and financial management seminar” As you all know, I have highly recommended the Street Strategist seminars for its comprehensiveness and the amount of knowledge that you can learn in a short period of time. I wrote a review about it in my post entitled “Guerilla Blogger meets the Street Strategist” Anyway, here is a sample letter from the Street Strategist himself, inviting you to his seminar: “We can teach a 10-year old how to do debit and credit in one morning with perfect accuracy and he will not forget it for the rest of his life! Our resource speaker is the inventor of the world’s fastest, most effective, most efficient way to learn debit and credit with perfect accuracy. With zero financial knowledge, whether you are a nurse, an industrial psychologist, or a lawyer, you can learn debit and credit and basic accounting principles on Day 1 and you can learn how to analyze … [Read more...]

The not so well known Nikola Tesla and the story of the remote control

April 10, 2011 by Zigfred Diaz 6 Comments

Every kid knows Thomas Alva Edison who is being always set out as an example on hard work and persistence but sadly they don’t know the guy who is behind the toy that every kid wants. Months ago, I watched a documentary on Nikola Tesla. I’ve heard about the man but I’ve never really realized the importance of his discoveries and inventions until I watched that documentary featured by History Channel (Which is by the way my favorite channel) Nikola Tesla (July 10, 1856 – 7 January 1943 )was an inventor, mechanical engineer, and electrical engineer and was one of the greatest mind in engineering, but he didn’t get the recognition he deserved. Tesla’s inventions contributed to the birth of commercial electricity. Without Tesla we would still be stuck with Edison’s DC (Direct Current) and we would have a limited ability to transmit electricity over great distances. Tesla pioneered modern electrical engineering and many of his discoveries and inventions were of groundbreaking … [Read more...]

How the Family Watch Dog will be useful for Filipinos

January 17, 2010 by Zigfred Diaz 2 Comments

I’ve stumbled across a great resource in the internet known as the Family Watch Dog. The Family Watch dog is a website that allows you to see for free, if a person is an RSO (If you want to know what an RSO means check out the website, I couldn't place it here because google will block my ads if a say the "S" word, saying the "S" word is bad says the google bot hehehehe) :-) This means that said person has been convicted of "S" offenses. I wish this “registry” is present in all countries throughout the world especially in the Philippine. Unfortunately those in the database are only RSOs in the United States. The Family Watch Dog website provides lots of details. You can search for RSOs by location or by name. There is also a feature that will help alert you if an RSO has moved within your location (In the United States only) A RSO's name, picture, aliases, cases he is convicted of, address, (RSO in the U.S are required to report if they transfer addresses) description (including … [Read more...]
