Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

The Plasma TV that blogging has bought?

July 6, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 7 Comments

Now that would be my dream post title months from now. I envy in a “professional” way those bloggers who I see post such title or similar titles in their blog post. It may not be a Plasma T.V it could be “The air-condition that blogging bought” or the “Laptop that blogging bought.” No matter what the item is, it just shows that blogging is indeed a serious livelihood to consider. In fact my goal is to retire 20 years from now. By that time all I want to do is travel around the world, write books and blog. I’ve been blogging for almost 8 months now. For the past 2 months or so I have started to earn more than what the average minimum wage earner in the Philippines earns. Compared to some veteran and professional bloggers my blogging income might seem minute. But as of now I am quite happy with it considering that I only spend 2 to 3 hours a day on this “income generating” hobby. Besides I always tell myself that I am still new to this. I believe it’s a matter of time before I … [Read more...]

How to lock the direct long distance dialing of your PLDT phone

July 5, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 17 Comments

My mother-in-law called me up this morning and asked how she could prevent others to make a long distance moving call on her PLDT (Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company) phone. I had no idea how to do it, so I researched the internet on what to do. I found out that these are the steps to lock the long distance feature of a PLDT phone. I am posting it here just in case others might find this information useful too. Take note that before you do this make sure your phone is set to “Tone mode” (By default all phones are set to tone mode) 1.) Press *85* and your present 4-digit code then press * and your new desired 4-digit code then press # Wait for the confirmation message or tone to know if your instruction has been accepted Note: The Initial 4 digit code is 1234. 2.) To lock: press *54* and your 4-digit code then press # 3.) To unlock: press #54* and your 4-digit code then press # If you encounter problems call 171 for assistance. … [Read more...]

Moymoy Palaboy makes it bigtime !

July 4, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

I have just been informed that Moymoy Palaboy was featured in GMA 7's comedy show "Bubble Gang". Looks like they are now hitting the big screen and is on their way to stardom. I first learned about Moymoy Palaboy through my brother in law. He showed me this funny duo who did some lip sync of several popular songs. The first time I looked at their video, I enjoyed the performance of the comical duo so much. I blogged about Moymoy Palaboy last March 2008 in the post entitled: “Have a good laugh with this Volare yotube video” In this post they did their famous “Volare” Lip sync. The best performance I have seen so far is their lip sync of “MARIMAR.” Check out the youtube video below and laugh yourself to death! I would not be surprised that Moymoy Palaboy could very well become the next big hit not only in the Philippines but around the world perhaps. I believe that Filipinos are the best entertainers in the world. In fact one of youtube’s most subscribed channels belongs … [Read more...]

Finally, the use of Filipino dialect in Philippine courts is now being experimented!

July 1, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 5 Comments

Having practiced law for more than 1 year now, I bemoan the fact that the wheels of justice in this country (The Philippines) is just too slow. Practicing law here is very discouraging. The primary reason for this is of course because of the big “C” (Corruption) which is also the problem of most government offices. Add to that inefficiency, ineffectiveness, laziness of the court staff who are always sitting down in their office furniture and taking it easy and of course judicial sloth. I blogged about this sad personal experience on our court’s inefficiency in the blog post entitled “Inefficiency, the mother of all injustice.” Being an industrial engineer at the same time, I always put my “IE mind” to work everyday and in every situation that I experience. Industrial engineers are trained to improve systems. We believe that “There is always a better way.” This is the mindset that Industrial Engineers are always trained to think. This is the mindset that Frederick Taylor the father … [Read more...]

The real Pacquiao vs. Diaz youtube video

June 29, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 4 Comments

This blog got a lot of traffic for today because I made it to the no. 1 spot in Google for certain keyword combinations of the Pacquiao vs. Diaz youtube video. People had been searching for a youtube video of the fight and landed on my site. The post I created is entitled “Pacman vs. Dangerous – The Manny Pacquiao and David Diaz - Lethal combination youtube video.”In that post, I told you my reasons why I am betting on Pacquiao to win instead of David Diaz despite us being distant relatives. (Not really just the same surnames hehehehe) I deliberately made a blog post about this fight days before the actual date so that my blog will be optimized for it. I owe this to Marghil Macuha of macuha.com. His blog has given me a lot of ideas on how to optimize my blog for the search engines. Among the tips he has given me is blogging about Many Pacquiao’s boxing matches. Hail to the Philippines’ prince of SEO, Marghil Macuha ! I could say that my domain being “zdiaz.com” has really … [Read more...]
