Today, there is a negative attitude towards the study of doctrine. This is understandable but not excusable. It is understandable because emphasizing doctrine has led to fruitless intellectualism, a proud and unloving attitude, fruitless speculation and unnecessary divisions. Also, studying doctrine demands hard work and change which many are not willing to make. It is inexcusable because the gospel we Christians are to proclaim and the faith we are to defend are rich in doctrinal content and Christian unity cannot be preserved and promoted apart from the study of doctrine. Also, how we worship and live depends on what we believe. For these reasons, we call on men in the pastoral ministry, those training for the ministry, and any key men in the church who preach God's Word to join us as we study the Doctrine of the Christian Life. The following topics will be covered in 12 sessions: - Introductory Perspectives, - Effectual Call - Regeneration - Conversion - … [Read more...]
A DILUTED GOSPEL
One of the biggest problem of evangelical Christianity today is that there is that the gospel presentation is being diluted. There's little or no presentation of repentance of sin and surrendering your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. A lot of those who present the Gospel ask people to make Jesus their Savior, but do not emphasize that when becoming a Christian is a complete and total surrender of their lives to Jesus Christ. Hence we see a lot of alleged conversion when the truth of the matter is a lot of people never really understand that being a Christian is a life commitment for Jesus Christ. Jesus himself said this that if anybody wants to become his disciple he is to deny himself, take up his cross and follow him. He asked the rich young ruler who was asking him how to obtain eternal life to acknowledge his sinfulness and follow him. Everywhere you read in the Gospels, Jesus preached a Gospel of commitment, a Gospel of complete surrender to his will. This is the Gospel … [Read more...]
Vote Chief Justice Renato Corona for President !
A lot of people had been crying for the ouster of Chief Justice Renato Corona brought about by the impeachment trial which has been the subject of a lot of brouhaha for the past weeks. By why impeach Chief Justice Renato Corona when he is in fact on of the most qualified person to run this country. A Corona presidency would mean an economic miracle. According to Rappler.com, Corona has properties worth more than 30 million (Excluding properties in the name of his daughter and his wife) and deposits in the banks worth more than 30 million (excluding dollar deposits) This despite his measly government salary. Corona must really be a finance or economics genius! Better than Warren Buffett perhaps as it is a wonder how he has compounded his money into millions considering small principal investments. Considering Corona’s finance and economic genius, there is no doubt in my mind that he can turn the Philippines into a first world country, faster than Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew who turned … [Read more...]
2011 Philippine bar exams results
The most awaited bar exams in Philippine Bar exam history was rumored to be released last Friday February 24, 2012. But I don’t know where people get there rumors because the Supreme Court through Court Spokesman Jose Midas Marquez has categorically said that there will be no bar exam results that will be released that day, however he said “next week is a possibility.” I say that this is the most awaited bar exam in Philippine history because this is the first time that the Supreme Court has radically changed the method of bar examination. About 60 % of the exam will be multiple choice questions while 40 % will be trail memorandum writing. This is literally uncharted waters for all of those in the legal profession hence everybody is holding their breath as to whether or not these reforms will increase or decrease the mortality rate or whether or not it is effective in measuring as to whether or not a person is fit to join the noblest of all professions. The major changes in the … [Read more...]
Happy 2nd anniversary The Master’s Community Fellowship
Two years ago, February 14, 2010, God placed a burden in our hearts to start a small church in our garage with a small group of people. Attendance for the succeeding Sundays was just between 5 to 10 adults. We named the Church, The Master’s Community Fellowship, reflective of our position as Christians being slaves of Jesus Christ and Him being our Master, Lord and Savior. After 2 years of ministry, average attendance now runs a total of almost 80 per Sunday. Between to 35 to 45 adults regularly attend our morning services, 10 to 15 in our afternoon discipleship program for youth and from 15 to 30 children in our afternoon children's worship service. Since our current meeting place which has only a capacity of 40 to 50 is a bit crowded already, we will be moving to a bigger place which can accommodate up to 60 or 70, that is where we originally started - our garage. The previous meeting place will be utilized for the kids worship service which will run simultaneously with … [Read more...]
