Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

The answer to the poverty problem

October 15, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 5 Comments

I found out about Blog Action Day just today while I was blog hopping. I find the concept unique, creative and something that’s worth joining. Earning income is not my only passion for blogging. I also want to contribute to the good of society through my blogging and joining Blog Action Day is just one of those avenues wherein I can somehow contribute back to society. According to their blogsite Blog Action Day is “an annual nonprofit event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers, podcasters and videocasters, to post about the same issue on the same day.” Their aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion. Again, I say that this is a really cool idea. (But the name is not so cool because “Blog Action Day” spells B.A.D and we don’t want to be BAD, we want to be GOOD hehehehe) This year’s Blog Action Day topic is “Poverty.” No specific topic in poverty is given. I would surmise that most articles would be about a solution to the "poverty problem.”. Last year (2007) it … [Read more...]

Work and play at Barili, Cebu

October 14, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 6 Comments

Pastor Paul Langbid, a long time pioneering missionary in Barili Cebu went to my house one day and asked if I could handle a case for him. He said that a case for ejectment was filed against the Bible Baptist Church of Barili. I really do not want to accept out of town cases because I hate long drives. But nevertheless I reluctantly accepted the case for free because I felt that God wanted to use my being a lawyer by helping churches in need for free. I studied the complaint for ejectment and told Pastor Paul not to worry about it. I immediately found the defect in the complaint which is a common mistake that some law practitioners commit. I then filed a motion to dismiss the complaint on the grounds of lack of Jurisdiction. I set the motion for hearing on Friday, April 25, 2008. The day came, and I have to drive all the way to Barili to argue my motion to dismiss. I arrived on time only to find out that the judge was not there. (That’s why I hate practicing in this country so … [Read more...]

Why I love my Suzuki Alto

October 12, 2008 by Zigfred Diaz 3 Comments

I bought my Suzuki Alto sometime this year and I love the little thing! My wife tells me that the Suzuki Alto is so small that it will turn turtle when it reaches hi-speed and gets side sweeped when passed by a big truck. Her personal preference is a bigger car, more specifically a pick up such as the Mitsubishi Estrada. God forbid that such unfortunate thing happens to me! Despite my wife's criticism of the Suzuki Alto, I still love driving it around. I've always loved small cars; in the auto industry they call such cars as “compact cars.” The reason why I love small cars is that they are easy to park, cheaper to maintain, cheaper to operate, cheap and affordable. Not all compact cars possess all of this quality though. For example, the Suzuki Swift which belongs to the compact car category which happens to be my first car is quite expensive, although I love the Swift's form factor which is much nicer than the Suzuki Alto. If I were to have it my way, I would love to … [Read more...]
