Welcome polymaths !

Ever get the feeling that you seem to don't know what to do with your life because there are just so many things that you want to do ? I know, I've been there, so welcome to the club.

My name is Zigfred Diaz and I am a polymath. After more than 6 years of bloging about almost anything under the sun and having sort of a "blogging identity crisis." I've finally embraced who I am and decided to turn my main blog into some sort of guide for people with so much interest. Feel free to poke around.

My top ten favorite Ninoy Aquino Quotes

August 21, 2009 by Zigfred Diaz 23 Comments

I’ve searched online for Ninoy Aquino quotes, but I have not found some online sources. In this connection to honor the great man, and in honor of his 26th death anniversary this day, I am coming up with my top ten favorite Ninoy Aquino quotes much as I have come up with my top ten favorite Cory Aquino quotes. I have to extract the quotes in his speeches. As a person of influence and widely considered by most Filipinos as a national hero, Ninoy Aquino’s words will echo throughout history and will continue to be quoted by men and women who dare to make a difference. Ninoy Aquino was a brilliant speaker, eloquent and full of charisma. He was full of passion for the fight for freedom. He could indeed have been a great president, but sadly in the words of former Senator Jovito Salonga he became the greatest president that we never had. Ninoy Aquino is a gifted speaker and as a journalist is a gifted writer as well. In fact he wrote a poem which is has been transformed into a song by … [Read more...]

Nonito Donaire vs. Rafael Concepcion youtube video and live streaming

August 15, 2009 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

It’s boxing fans day once again as The Filipino Flash, Nonito Donaire trades fists with Panamanian boxer, The Little Bull, Rafael “El Torita” Concepcion on August 15, 2009 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada in the fight dubbed as Pinoy Power 2. Boxing Aficionados all over the world will be searching for the Nonito Donaire vs. Rafael Concepcion youtube video and live streaming so I am getting ready for the traffic as well hehehehe. Because of his speed and reflexes Nonito Donaire is nicknamed the “Filipino Flash.” Donaire holds an impressive 21 wins with 14 knockouts and 1 loss. The little bull on the other hand, Rafael Concepcion, remember him? He was the one who came to Cebu and was considered as the “underdog” but surprisingly stunned the Cebu crowd when he beat AJ Bazoka Banal in the most unholy fight in boxing history. Check out my post on it “Laban na banal – The AJ Banal vs. Rafael Concepcion youtube video” That fight earned Rafael Concepcion the WBA Interim … [Read more...]

Hillary Clinton angry ! Lost in translation perhaps ?

August 12, 2009 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

U.S Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton is angry! That would be putting it mildly, probably the term would be mad or perhaps the best way to describe it is outraged? Who is Hilary Clinton angry at? Well she’s angry at people asking her what does her husband, former President Bill Clinton think about this, or about that. Perhaps she is insecure of the long shadow that her husband has cast upon her political career. (Maybe she is just tired from all the long trips that she took, we should give her the benefit of the doubt) See the youtube video below to see Hilary Clinton angry: Do you think this will happen to the Philippines', First Gentleman Mike Arroyo when in the near future he will perhaps become a cabinet Secretary ? What do you think ? (We should install more video surveillance equipment in Malacanang to find out hehehehe) … [Read more...]

The good and bad news about the Chevy Volt

August 12, 2009 by Zigfred Diaz 1 Comment

I’ve got both good news and bad news about the Chevy Volt.  Let’s start with the good news first. THE GOOD NEWS General Motor’s has come with a car that lets you save a lot on gasoline ! The car is so efficient that you get 230 miles per gallon out of it on ordinary city driving. Introducing the new Chevy Volt 230 miles per gallon ? You got to be kidding me ! That’s about 368 Kilometers per 3.4 liters or roughly 108 kilometers for every liter of gasoline! But that’s what the new Chevy Volt, General Motor’s (GM) new electric car promises to deliver to customers. In Kilowatt hour, the Chevy volt will use 25 kilowatt hours per every 100 miles driven. Powered by a lithium-ion battery, you can drive the Chevy volt up to around 40 miles after which you can plug it in an ordinary outlet to recharge. For longer driving the Chevy Volt uses a small gas-powered engine. The Chevy Volt is perhaps GM’s renewed effort to catch up with the market. The Chevy Volt could indeed deliver a … [Read more...]

15 things that I learned from the 2009 mid-year economic briefing on the Philippine economy

August 11, 2009 by Zigfred Diaz Leave a Comment

Last July 30, 2009, I announced in my blog that the University of Asia and the Pacific will be holding a mid-year a economic briefing in Cebu on July 31, 2009. I attended the said half day event and was quite happy that I attended said briefing. I learned a lot of things and corrected certain misconceptions that I had. I was also able to gain more knowledge about the Philippine economy. The first lecturer was Dr. Emilio Antonio who was the former dean of the University of Asia and the Pacific school of Economics. He was followed by Dr. Victor Abola a Professor at said University and head of the Strategic Business Economics Program. I’m sure I learned a lot of things and there are lots of things that can be said. However I will just be discussing the top ten very interesting things that I learned in the mid-year economic briefing on the Philippine economy. 1.) Contrary to what the critics say, it is not true that we have not grown as a nation for the past 20 years. The cold … [Read more...]
