The Visayan region, most particularly Cebu is known for its very musically minded people and its pool of talented singers and composers. In fact Cebu is widely known all over the world for its famous guitar making industry. A lot of Cebu singers have made it to the national scene and a lot of composers from Cebu have contributed to the rich musical archives of the Filipino nation. Last time a featured the song “We will rise again” sung very our very own Raki Vega. This time I am featuring a medley of Visayan songs sung by our very own “The crystal voice of Asia,” Sherin Regis is originally from CarCar, Cebu. I just love listening to Visayan songs on my ipod. I wonder if I am also comfortable listening to this with an ipad. Don't have one yet, not also planning to get one as you need to buy a lot of ipad accessories to unlock it's full value. These songs always have a special place in my hearts because my grandparents love to sing Visayan songs. They always encouraged me to learn … [Read more...]
We will rise again music, lyrics and youtube video by Raki Vega
I just found this very nice, inspiring and uplifting song in Facebook entitled “We will rise again.” Considering that we have just successfully concluded our first automated elections and that we will be having a new president who promised to stamp out corruption, this song is just perfect for this time of change! Hopefully this song will inspire the Filipino nation to rise again and finally achieve our dreams to become a great nation. What I further love about this song is that it is all done by Cebuanos. Without doubt, the Cebuanos are the most musically talented among Filipinos. The song is even recorded in our very own Cebu City. It is performed by no other than our very own Cebuano diva, Raki Vega. A good friend of mine who is also my school mate during my high school days (Of course not in medical assisting school), Mr. Marc Hamlet Mercado is the one who did the violin accompaniment. The song is composed by the talented Cebuano composer, Jude Gitamondoc. It is arranged, … [Read more...]
Advice for the bar examinee – Part 3
This is the last and final installment of the series “Advice for the bar examinee.” In part 1 & part 2 of the series Prof. Riguera gave some very interesting tips on what to do before the bar examinations. Now he concludes this series by discussing what to do the night before, during the bar exams and after the bar exams. DURING SEPTEMBER AND THE BAR EXAM AVOID UNNECESSARY STRESS AND DISTRACTIONS. Some stress and nerves is unavoidable during the 7-dfbx review and exam week and in fact helps to drive you harder in your studies. However undue and excessive stress and nerves is an enemy of the bar examinee as it results in a lack of sleep and hinders proper thinking both while studying and taking the exam itself. If you feel that you are unduly stressed or worried, learn relaxation techniques like yoga and deep breathing. Prayer and meditation are powerful relaxation techniques. Learning to face and accept the possibility of failure also serves to relax us and unburden us of … [Read more...]

Ten things that make the Philippine 2010 elections unique – Part 2
Isang tulog na lang ! The Philippine election 2010 will finally kick off tomorrow ! We hope and pray for a generally peaceful and smooth election tomorrow. Its judgment day for the candidates! I’ve said in “Ten things that make the Philippine 2010 elections unique Part 1” that the Philippine election 2010 is unique and that it deserves a prominent spot in our history books. I gave the first five reasons in the first part; here are the last five reasons on what makes the Philippines elections 2010 unique. 6.) Possibility of failure of elections – The fear of failure of elections is probably at its highest in the Philippines 2010 elections. This is probably because it is the first time that the country is trying out the automated elections. 7.) Most unpredictable outcome – The Philippines 2010 elections has definitely the most unpredictable outcome. Although surveys shows one candidate having a big lead among other candidates, it still remains to be seen as to who will win as … [Read more...]
