One of Cebu’s most promising boxer, AJ “Bazooka” Banal will once again either wow or stun his home crowd this coming Saturday as he battles the “African Golden boy” Mbwana Matumla of Tanzania Africa at the Cebu Coliseum in the fight dubbed as “Tuloy Ang Pagsubok” (Translated as – The Challenge Continues)
If you remember last July 2008 AJ Banal’s Bazooka went Kaplang! instead of KaBOOM! when he was KOd in the 10th round by Rafael “Little Bull” Concepcion in the fight dubbed as “The holy fight.” (Laban na banal) AJ’s defeat became very unholy when the little Bull silenced the crowd at the Cebu Coliseum as Bazooka’s cannon failed to deliver the necessary fire power.
Well I hope this won’t happen again. I hope this time AJ’s Bazooka will send the Golden Boy of Africa back to his Safari home land. Ranked No. 6 by the IBF, No. 9 by the WBA and considered as “heir” to Manny Pacquiao’s throne, AJ’s near perfect record of 18-1-1 with 15 KOs makes him the top bet for this fight.
On the other side of the ring is Mbwana Matumla who is widely credited for bringing back to Tanzania “the lost glory of professional boxing.” With an 18-3,10 knockouts record, I’m sure the Golden boy of Africa who was once ranked No. 5 by the WBA will be giving AJ a hard time.
