The Visayan region, most particularly Cebu is known for its very musically minded people and its pool of talented singers and composers. In fact Cebu is widely known all over the world for its famous guitar making industry. A lot of Cebu singers have made it to the national scene and a lot of composers from Cebu have contributed to the rich musical archives of the Filipino nation.
I just found this very nice, inspiring and uplifting song in Facebook entitled “We will rise again.” Considering that we have just successfully concluded our first automated elections and that we will be having a new president who promised to stamp out corruption, this song is just perfect for this time of change! Hopefully this song will inspire the Filipino nation to rise again and finally achieve our dreams to become a great nation.
I first heard about Carmina Topacio when listening to one of my favorite Radio program in AM radio, sidewalk 1512.
Sidewalk 1512’s main topic is about business and economics but because the program’s host is a music lover, a smattering of music topics and music itself is played form time to time. The program’s host is no other than Thads Bentulan, popularly known as the Street Strategist, author, and original thinker of the controversial hyper-wage theory as well as other society shaking original ideas.
It was in Sharon Cuneta’s birthday special that I saw the “acapella” rendition of the popular song “Dancing queen.” Said song was first heard way back in 1976 by popular Swedish group ABBA. The song remained popular despite its being released decades ago.
I am no fan of Lady Gaga who is a famous American recording artist. However I am a fan of Acapella and I appreciate people who do acapella.
