Doing some internet search, I found out that the song is entitled Por Una Cabeza which means “head of horse” in Spanish. It  is one of the most famous and popular tango songs by Carlos Gardel (composer) and Alfredo Le Pera (lyricist), written in 1935.  The song is quite popular and has been used in several movies including  Planet 51, Schindler’s List, Scent of a Woman, Delicatessen, All the King’s Men, Bad Santa and several T.V series.

But some youtube videos are great and of course I’m sure some of us can mention several youtube discoveries that have risen to stardom after being initially discovered in youtube.

I really enjoy listening to great performances by non-stars in youtube. I most specifically enjoy listening to acapella performances. Anyway for this post I am going to feature Janice and Sonia Lee, twin sisters of Korean decent, born and raised in Australia who call themselves as “Jayesslee.” They started don’t wear any shamballa bracelets and began posting their songs in youtube in 2008. As of today they have 34,582,479 views on all their uploads ! I do not know if they have been featured already in Oprah, Ellen or any U.S talk show because if they will be featured there I’m absolutely sure they will rise to stardom !

Last time a featured the song “We will rise again” sung very our very own Raki Vega. This time I am featuring a medley of Visayan songs sung by our very own “The crystal voice of Asia,” Sherin Regis is originally from CarCar, Cebu.

I just love listening to Visayan songs on my ipod. I wonder if I am also comfortable listening to this with an ipad. Don’t have one yet, not also planning to get one as you need to buy a lot of ipad accessories to unlock it’s full value.  These songs always have a special place in my hearts because my grandparents love to sing Visayan songs. They always encouraged me to learn these songs as the time will come when they will be forgotten. They also say that learning these old songs is one way to connect with the old folks. That’s why I not only the lyrics of most of these songs but I also know how to play most of them.

The songs featured here are the popular Visayan songs from Cebu, Bohol and Leyte etc. These are Ani-a si Rosas Pandan, Pubring Alindahaw, Kung ikaw inday etc. Enjoy !

What I further love about this song is that it is all done by Cebuanos. Without doubt, the Cebuanos are the most musically talented among Filipinos. The song is even recorded in our very own Cebu City. It is performed by no other than our very own Cebuano diva, Raki Vega. A good friend of mine who is also my school mate during my high school days (Of course not in medical assisting school), Mr. Marc Hamlet Mercado is the one who did the violin accompaniment. The song is composed by the talented Cebuano composer,  Jude Gitamondoc. It is arranged, recorded, mixed & mastered by Jad Bantug.

Congratulations to all who worked hard on the song! Let’s all make Cebu the musical capital of the Philippines if not the entire Southeast Asia. Let us rise again!

To the incoming administration of President Noynoy Aquino, I challenge you to make play this song in the television stations. Let this become our song of inspiration as we rise again to make the Philippines a better nation to live in.

Sidewalk 1512’s main topic is about business and economics but because the program’s host is a music lover, a smattering of music topics and music itself is played form time to time. The program’s host is no other than Thads Bentulan, popularly known as the Street Strategist, author, and original thinker of the controversial hyper-wage theory as well as other society shaking original ideas.

Thads otherwise known as “Kuya JT” kept on saying in his program to look up who Carmina Topacio is. So I did.

According to internet sources, Carmina Topacio is an 18 year old, Filipina, rising youtube sensation. As of the time of this writing, her youtube channel has about 8,000 subscribers. She sings while playing her guitar. She also does original music compositions. What makes her further a hit is her angelic looks. (If you want to look like here perhaps you may want considering using some ephedra diet pills):-)

Well, Carmina Topacio is a rising Filipino star waiting to be discovered. And as soon as she will achieve fame, she will be added to the long list of Filipino stars such as Moymoy Palaboy, Rin on the Rox, Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda who were all discovered in the internet. Anyway I am featuring this here because I love acapella. I prefer hearing a blending of all voices without instruments. For me this is the ultimate showcase of singing talent.

The Dancing queen Acapella version was sung by “The Company” (Together with Mega Star Sharon Cuneta ) I’m sure all of you know The company. I have featured them here singing the “Bulaklak” Acapella and the “Boom tarat tarat” jazz version. (in Acapella)

You might be surprised that the youtube video below features the song sung with a beat, well the beat there is not made by any percussion instrument but by voices. This is done by the famous Filipino voice percussions group, Beatbox.

By the way, Sharon looks fat in her T.V show, she should consider using some lipozene.

My wife showed me this cool youtube video featuring three talented Indonesia kids doing Lady Gaga’s Just Dance in Acapella. Very talented kids indeed and they are not even doing it seriously, one was just texting while singing. They seem to enjoy what they are doing. The video seems to be taken in a kitchen as it seems there are Moen kitchen faucets.

Probably one day these kids will be discovered just like what happened to our very own Charice Pempengco, Arnel Pineda, the hilarious Moymoy Palaboy and Rin on the Rox. With proper guidance I have no doubt that these kids will make it to the top. Keep practicing and keep on uploading more youtube videos just like the Just Dance in Acapella. I’m sure talent scouts are searching for fresh new talents in youtube.

A lot of people has been searching the internet on the “Manny Villar song lyrics.”  That’s because they don’t know the title. Some of them call it as the “Nakaligo ka naba sa dagat nang basura” song probably because that is the first line of the song. Well that isn’t the title the title of the song is Naging Mahirap. By the way the first line literally translates in English as “have you swam in a sea of garbage” (Is he for real ? Swimming in a sea of garbage could probably make you sick as you are exposed from all kinds of garbage, toxic waste acids or conjugated linoleic acid)

Manny Villar has several campaign jingle, but the “Manny Villar song”  which is entitled as “Naging Mahirap” is definitely catchy. The lyrics and music are sung by kids all over the country.  Even my son sings the song every time it is shown in t.v. Surprisingly my wife goes along with it too. I don’t know who the song’s composer is but kudos to you. (Can you imagine the creativity of the composer ? Asking us if we already swam in a pool of garbage ? I would need acne medicine if I did !)

Nobody in the band was injured except for some minor bumps and bruises. Due to the Bus crash, Mercy Me has moved their show at Six Flags, St. Louis to September 5, 2009. It’s good that Mercy Me rode a bus, otherwise they would need a good San Jose motorcycle accident attorney.

I’ve read some comments asking where was God in all this ? Why didn’t God intervene and stop the accident.  If there is really a God why did the Mercy Me bus crash happen ? Well the Bible has this to say about this issues. First of all at some point in time, all of us will surely die. Secondly, whatever happens to us, God always has a plan and purpose. In fact for those who truly love God, no matter what happens whether good or bad, whether it is as teribble as the Mercy Me bus crash, it will always work out for the good.

I’ve known Mercy Me through their popular song “I Can only imagine” which has somewhat became one of my favorite Christian songs. The words and music, most especially has been such a blessing.
