Beethoven lost his hearing, he wasn't Deaf as the Deaf comunity defines it. He grew up hearing, studying and componsing. He had a very developed sense of music when he began to lose his hearing, and also a very good musical memory. There are many kinds of deafness, but most Deaf people, who lived most of their lives without hearing a sound, or with little perception of sound are not in the same situation as Beethoven was... If Beethoven was alive today, he wouldn't be considered Deaf as the Deaf Comunity defines it... He would be a person with hearing loss.
