elotisira: Hi ! Glad to hear your thoughts. I will be composing a post for your first comment/point, I see an opportunity to develop this into a post. I hope you don't mind.

With regards to your second comment, just like you I have expressed my frustration over the lack of data available in the PSE. I have talked about my experience in my post entitled "<a href="http://www.zdiaz.com/2009/03/questions-and-answers-on-the-philippine-stock-exchange/" rel="nofollow">Questions and answers on the Philippine stock exchange</a>" Scroll down to no. 2 and read the 5th paragraph.

With regards to your third point I will answer it in a post together with the first point you raised.

Glad to meet a fellow value investor online ! More power !

hi, first I want to say that it's refreshing to find a filipino (at least in the net) who adheres to value investing principles. most of the time when searching the web for pse news I see articles about how a stock is some investment company's hot pick (usually at bloomberg), or i inadvertedly go back to a certain website about short-term trading (a style that doesn't suit me). obviously, you like warren buffett... although i think buffetology is too simplistic. opinyon lang.
second, i just want to get your opinion on public awareness regarding the phil stock market. not just for what it is, but for what it can do for regular citizens. most of the people i talk to regarding the market generally have an idea about what it is, but lack the understanding on how to use it for their betterment. i'm assuming the education system here doesn't focus on stock market education as well as it should. for example, last year i went to up diliman with my brand-new library card to find books about historical pse values and i didn't find anything. i didn't even find a thesis (another possibility is i don't know how to use the library's book search system). i'm not saying the educational system here sucks, its just that too few people realize that it is a viable option for their money.
last, and partly related to the issue above, it seems that the general consensus in approaching the market is solely on speculation. the best example i can think of is geo stock. nung 2007, umabot ng 3 pesos ang price nya... and lugi ang company for the past few years.
wala lang, although i consider those mentioned to be advantages for me. masarap bumili ngayon
