Iris: Yep it is a Global issue and it's one that hasn't been solved since the start of civilzation. I guess the root cause of poverty is greed and lack of discipline.

As you said the disparity between the rich and poor is stagerring. Here we are being fat and sassy while in some countries they can barely eat a meal a day. There seems to be a great imbalance in the distribution of wealth and resources.

This is a very interesting topic, Zigfred. This is a global issue and even industrialize countries are plagued with this problem. Surprisingly, you'll find a large population (almost a million) of homeless people in the United States - the land of opportunities. Why? Well, homeless Americans are a mixture of the following:

-Mental illness
-Homeless by choice
-Capable and willing to work, but unable to find jobs enough to pay for housing

Of course, as you've mentioned, there are countless of opinions on how to beat poverty. The disparity between the rich and poor in most third world countries is staggering. The rich (most are born into wealth) have the best of everything whereas the poor have nothing and are stripped of any opportunities. Have you heard the adage, "Mone talks, bullshit walks"?

I do wish that distitute families have fewer children, but it seems that the poorer the parents, the more they are likely to have more children. In the end, it's children that suffers.
